Surah Fajr is the eighty-ninth surah and one of the Meccan surahs of the Qur'an, which is in the thirtieth part of the Qur'an. Fajr means dawn, which God swears by in the first verse of the sura, and in the narrative interpretations, Imam Mahdi (a.s.), the twelfth Imam of the Shiites, is mentioned.

Surah Fajr refers to the history of the people of Ad, the people of Thamud and Pharaoh and their corruption and rebellion and says that humans are subject to divine testing; But some people fail in this test due to forgetting God's blessings.

Surah Fajr is also known as the Surah of Imam Hussain (AS), and in the hadiths, the meaning of "confident soul" is introduced in its final verses, Imam Hussain (AS).

In the narrated traditions, whoever recites it in the ten nights, God will forgive him, and if he recites it in the rest of the days, light will be with him on the Day of Judgment. Surah Fajr is one of the surahs that are engraved on the current shrine of Imam Hussain (as) (installed in 1391 AH).


Imam Sadiq (a.s.) has been quoted as saying: "Recite Surah Fajr in obligatory and recommended prayers, which is Surah Hussain bin Ali (a.s.)." Anyone who recites it will be in the same rank with him in the Day of Resurrection.[]
