About this app

Unlock the full potential of your DSLR or mirrorless camera with Arsenal - The Intelligent Camera Assistant.

WHAT IS ARSENAL? Arsenal is the world’s first intelligent camera assistant for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. By combining this mobile app and Arsenal’s ultralight hardware you get complete control over your camera from your smartphone!

NEVER MISS THE PERFECT SHOT: Like your own personal photography assistant, Arsenal lets you focus on the parts of photography you love while it takes care of the rest. In Smart Mode, Arsenal’s machine learning algorithm understands the scene you’re shooting, chooses smart settings, and fine tunes them using 18 different environmental factors.

GET COMPLETE CONTROL: When you want full creative control, Arsenal’s Manual Mode turns your smartphone into the world’s best wireless camera remote. Set your camera’s shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. See a live preview of your shot. And trigger the shutter... all from up to 100 feet away!

TAKE GREAT SHOTS IN TRICKY LIGHT: Capture scenes with High Dynamic Range (HDR) without spending hours in front of your computer. Arsenal automates advanced exposure stacking techniques, taking multiple exposures and merging them into a single RAW or JPG file on your camera.

KEEP EVERYTHING SHARP: With focus stacking, you can get your entire scene in sharp focus. Arsenal calculates the optimal number of exposures, takes them at different focus positions, and merges them into one crystal clear image on your camera.

CAPTURE STUNNING TIMELAPSES: Arsenal makes capturing “holy grail” timelapses a breeze. Simply start your timelapse and let Arsenal adjust the exposure as the light changes for a smooth day-to-night transition. You can even preview your timelapse while it’s being recorded.

REVIEW AND SHARE INSTANTLY: Review and share the photos on your DSLR or mirrorless camera wirelessly from your phone. Flip through photos instantly, zoom in to see details at full-resolution, and share your favorite shots right from your phone.

WORKS WITH MOST POPULAR CAMERA MODELS: Arsenal fully supports dozens of popular DSLR and mirrorless camera models made by Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Fuji. To see if your camera is supported, visit

When I first installed it, there were some hiccups. It worked smoothly ONCE. I have not been able to get it to connect since. I have tried the troubleshooting steps and sent many screen shots supporting my claim. Very slow response to my issue other than the verbal assurance that the product works. I'm trying to be patient but have been nothing but frustrated since trying to get this up and running.

Just like the hardware it's supposed to pair with, the app is junk. Once you connect to the hardware, and download the mandatory firmware update, the phone won't connect to the hardware. It sees the network but it times out. Every. Single. Time. I've tried with three Android phones. Same results. I've shut off mobile data and deleted every saved network and allowed the software to manage connections. Nope. Nope. Nope. If you haven't bought the hardware, don't. I was a sucker. You've been warned.

Occasionally this will require an extremely large firmware update and the Arsenal will not work without it. If you don't have access to wifi you could be spending hours trying to download it before it will work. There is no warning, and no way to bypass the update. If you plan on using an Arsenal professionally, don't. This design flaw makes it far too unreliable for serious photography. The other main issue is that what features you can use depend on what OS you have, which makes no sense. For example, if you are on iOS, you can zoom in during live view to check focus. If you use Android, this feature is not available. Why my camera features should be different depending on what device I am running the app on is incredible strange. Connection issues are a common occurrence. I understand that this was a kickstarter, but clearly the engineering team still has a lot of bugs to work out. And that is what makes this device more of a toy than anything a serious photographer would want to use.

Hi Timothy, sorry for the trouble. Our support manager will be emailing you to offer assistance. We only release a handful of firmware updates per year but do advise checking for an update before heading out. Disabling auto-updates on your phone will allow you to update at your convenience as the app updating is what prompts the firmware update.

What's new

This update fixes an issue with the Canon 1DX and 1DX Mark II, and includes other bug fixes and improvements.
