Foolscap turns photos of your handwritten notes into organised, searchable study material — right on your device.
Snap a photo of a page and Foolscap transcribes the handwriting into clean, editable text. Each note is filed into folders you create, using labels that route it to the right place. Generate flashcards from any note and review them in a simple study flow. Export or print notes and fold-over flashcards as tidy PDFs.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Capture — photograph any handwritten page, or type notes directly.
• Transcribe — handwriting becomes searchable text you can edit.
• File — organise into your own folders with labels and filing rules.
• Study — auto-generated flashcards with a clean review mode.
• Summaries — get a short summary of any note.
• Share & print — export notes and printable flashcards as PDFs.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your notes live on your device by default. There are no ads, no trackers selling your data, and no advertising profiles. To transcribe your handwriting and generate study material, the app sends the relevant pages to the Anthropic Claude API — that is the only place your note content is sent for processing.
OPTIONAL SIGN-IN & SYNC
Want your notes on more than one device, or to read them in the web viewer? Sign in with Google and turn on sync, and your notes are stored privately in your own account, visible only to you. Sign-in is completely optional — Foolscap works fully without an account. The app also uses standard, privacy-respecting diagnostics (crash and usage reporting) that you can switch off in Settings and that never include your note content.
Foolscap: capture, file, study.
