About this app

PlentyBook is a checkbook register. It records the money going into and out of your accounts, and shows a running balance on every line.

RECORD AN ENTRY IN SECONDS
Type an amount on the built-in keypad, add a note if you want one, and tap Income or Expense. The keypad stays on screen the whole time, so writing a line takes about two seconds and never opens a pop-up. Tap any entry to edit its amount, note, date or category, or to delete it.

WORKS OFFLINE
PlentyBook needs no internet connection. There is no account to create, no sign-up and no email address, so the register works the same on a plane, in a basement, or in airplane mode. Nothing waits on a server, because there is no server.

KEEP MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
Create a separate check register for your checking account, another for your savings account, another for the cash in your pocket. Each account keeps its own starting balance, its own entries and its own color, and the accounts screen lists every balance along with a combined total. Accounts stay completely separate — no shared budget and no combined pot.

SEE A RUNNING BALANCE ON EVERY LINE
Each entry shows what the balance was immediately after it, the way a paper checkbook works. The newest entries sit at the top, where you actually look.

SEARCH YOUR REGISTER
Search by note, by amount, or by category name. Results show how many entries matched and what they add up to, so a question like "how much have I spent on coffee" takes one search.

AUDIT ANY PERIOD
Total the money in, the money out and the net figure for this month, last month, the last 30 days, this year, or any date range you pick. A quick way to see income and expenses for a period without building a budget or a spreadsheet.

MARK WHAT HAS CLEARED
Flag each transaction once it reaches your bank, so you can tell at a glance which entries the bank has seen and which are still outstanding.

LOCK THE APP OR A SINGLE ACCOUNT
Require your fingerprint, face or device PIN to open PlentyBook, or to open one particular account while the rest stay available. Free, and off until you switch it on.

SYNC, IF YOU WANT IT
Switch on Google Drive sync and your register follows you to your other devices, through your own Drive account. It is off until you turn it on, it comes with the unlock, and it can be turned back off whenever you like.

BACK UP AND RESTORE YOUR DATA
Export your whole register to a plain, readable file that you keep wherever you like. Restore it whenever you need it. Restoring adds and updates entries and never deletes anything already in the app. Backup and restore are free, with or without a purchase.

TURN ON ONLY WHAT YOU WANT
PlentyBook starts with three ideas: a starting balance, money in, money out. These extras are built in and waiting whenever you want them:

• Categories, to tag entries and filter by them
• Day grouping, to split the register into headed days
• A cleared flag, to mark entries that have reached your bank
• A light theme, an inverted dark theme, or whatever your system uses

WHO IT IS FOR
Anyone who kept a paper check register and wants the same thing on a phone. It suits people tracking a checking account and a savings account side by side, anyone who writes checks and needs to know what has cleared, and anyone who wants a simple ledger of income and expenses without a budgeting system telling them what to do with their money.

PRIVACY
There is no account to create, no sign-up and no email address. No analytics, no trackers and no ads. PlentyBook has no server, so your register never comes to us. It stays on your device unless you switch on Google Drive sync, and then it goes to your own Drive — a private folder only PlentyBook can see — and to your own devices. Sync is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it back off.
