Barcode & QR Scanner is a free app that reads QR codes and barcodes. Point your camera at a code and it scans on its own, with no button to press.
It handles most common code types: QR codes, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417, and standard 1D barcodes like EAN, UPC, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128 and ITF.
After a scan, you get the content plus useful actions for whatever the code contains:
- Website links open straight in your browser.
- Phone numbers can be dialed or added to contacts.
- Emails and SMS messages open in your mail or messaging app.
- Contact cards can be saved to your address book.
- Calendar events can be added to your calendar.
- WiFi codes can be used to join the network.
- Locations open in Maps with directions.
- Books and products can be searched online.
You can also copy the text, share it with other apps, or delete it from history. If you have a code saved in a photo, scan it from your gallery instead. You can crop the picture first to focus on the exact code, which is handy when a photo contains several codes at once.
The app can create codes too. Pick a type from link, text, phone, email, message, contact, or WiFi, fill in the details, and generate a QR code. Save it to your gallery or share it as an image.
Every scan is saved in history on your phone, so you can always find a code you scanned earlier. History recording can be turned off in settings, and the scan sound and vibration can be adjusted there as well. A flashlight button is available for dark environments.
Scanning is done on your device, so it works without an internet connection, and no account is needed.
How to use:
1. Open the app and point the camera at a QR code or barcode.
2. If asked, allow camera access, then keep the code inside the frame. It will be recognized automatically.
3. To scan from a photo, tap the picture icon, choose an image, and crop it if needed.
4. Use History to look up past scans, and Settings to adjust sound, vibration, or history recording.
