About this app

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes you can repeat books) before your precious one starts kindergarten. Does it sound hard? Not really if you think about it. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. If you consider that most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think (so get started).

The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten app lets parents/caregivers keep track of their children's reading activity quickly and easily.

- Scan books into your library
- Keep track of reading activity for multiple readers
- Track your progress to 1000 books!

Not terrible for a free app but it needs to have some functionality built in to it. It's 2023. You should be able to scan ISBNs to add books to your list without going through the process of adding it to the library first, then adding it to your reading list. As a library manager, that is going to be what people complain about most when they use the app. I haven't figured out what they are using email for yet as there was no disclaimer in the app. Still going to try it out instead of paper logs.

It technically does what it needs to do if all you want is a book list, but it's slow and clunky and not easy to add books. One has to click through so many steps to do anything. The times and dates are wrong and I can't find a way to edit them. It has an achievement section but it never adds achievements and we are at almost 400 books. It needs a lot of work.

This app leaves a LOT to be desired. It is incredibly slow, way too many steps to add a book, then to add said book to the reading list, no way to see how many times you've read each book just that you've read it and a total number, when you email the list it jumbles all the authors so you have to connect them back together yourself, and I've only been using it for a week and already considering going to the paper version. Love the concept. Not a fan of the technology.
