It seems to simply not work on Android. I can't add the fan. I've tried forcing stop, clearing the cache, clearing all data, uninstall/reinstall, and no matter what I do the app doesnt work. This is embarrassingly bad for a device as expensive as this. I won't be buying more (I own one and have bought two for my mom) until this is fixed.
When I first downloaded this App, it was fine. But their latest update does something strange with connected devices and they pop in and out of the list. I also just discovered that this App will not work on all of my Android devices, just two of them, even though they are the same version of Android. BAF has not kept up with automations available. So I now think this falls short. I am trying to use an Alps M962 with Android 6.0.
Don't buy their amazing products until the offer support for Google Assistant. Like many hardware-centric companies, they fall behind in software. We have 2 fans & five lights all bought under the promise that Google Assistant support will be 'announced soon', according to emails correspondence I have with one of their reps. They even had a secret IFTTT beta you couldn't get on despite repeated promises. BAF products are incredible, but I can't see why in today's saturating IoT market, someone would spend $1500 on a fan, or $200 on a lamp (again, all wonderful), with no support or even a plan for integration with a major platform. ***February 23, 2018 UPDATE*** From BAS' response it is alluded that there may be GA integration in the works. I don't mind waiting, but until now their official response was that they don't plan to support GA at all. Which one is it?
I had to call tech support to get it to work. Together we figured out that AdGuard was blocking the app. When I turn AdGuard off it works fine. I will give 5 stars when they get it to work with AdGuard running.
Is support for Google Assistant coming?
This update is downright incredible.... Thank you for finally making an app that matches the simplicity and beauty of the fans and lights for which it controls. To whatever team of designers, programmers, product managers, or keyboard cowboys that made this happen, hats off to you!
We’ve been working hard on fixing bugs and any crashes you may have experienced.
