Sokpakbayev Berdybek Ыдырысович (October 15, 1924, Kostobe village, Narynkolsky district, Alma-Ata region, Kazak ASSR - 1991, Alma-Ata) - writer of Kazakhstan, children's writer, author of numerous works about children.
The family where Berdibek grew up was very poor. He described his childhood in a colorful way in the story "Bala shaka sayahat" ("Journey to Childhood") (1960). At the age of 8, Berdibek lost his mother, this became his constant pain for the rest of his life. The love for knowledge was imparted to the boy by his elder brother Satylgan, who later died in the war. The boy had to experience and experience a lot: both hard work and hunger. Nevertheless, he grew up a very inquisitive and capable child.

After school he served in the army. Then - study in Alma-Ata in the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute named after Abai, later Sokpakbaev graduated from the Higher Literary Courses in Moscow. He worked as a teacher in the schools of his native region.

Berdibek Sokpakbayev began his writing activity with a collection of poems. He came out in 1950 and immediately found his readers. The next book of the writer - the story "Champion" was released in 1951.
