On the plus side, it does display data and update firmware in attached devices. However, it disables any attached displays without changing their presentation. They just stop updating, displaying stale data. When the app is disconnected, the displays remain static and unresponsive. They each have to be rebooted after using the app. Not acceptable.

Duane, The behavior you state is likely because you have not updated the firmware on the devices. Once you update the Gateway, color display and SmartShunt firmware, the displays will show "App Connected" when the app is active. It should also fix the issue with reboots. Please contact support at www.balmar.net if you have further issues.

I like the app. Great way to monitor the battery banks. However, not sure why phone location setting must be turned on to use the app. This should not be required as location has nothing to do with the batteries. Just finished a 2 week cruise on the boat using new Balmar alternator setup & SG200. Stayed on moorings the entire time and charging & monitoring worked beautifully. Great products !!

Mike, I understand - but it something that Google forces on us - not something we want, as it can create confusion. We cannot use the Bluetooth radio without location services turned on.

The gateway and/or phone frequently hang requiring a power cycle of both. Will not recognize the mc-618 even after update to latest firmware. Not quite ready for deployment. Great idea though. Last update just hangs on dfu 0% on upgrade but better than the ios version that does not even see the gateway.
