About this app

Basalt is a weekly habit tracker for the things you want to do a few times a week, not every day. Keep them on your own or as habits with friends, check them off when they're done, and let the habit grid show the weeks adding up.

Write down a routine and how many times a week it should happen. Three runs, two gym sessions, reading on weekdays, a call home on Sunday. When it's done, check it off with one tap. That is the whole loop.

How often, not every day
Every routine gets its own weekly target, from one to seven times a week. Let it keep going with no end, or give it an end date. A missed Tuesday is just a missed Tuesday: reach your number by the end of the week and the week counts. For a daily habit, pick seven.

Checking it off
One tap, once a day. A day is either done or skipped, nothing in between. If you came looking for a discipline tracker, this is the quiet kind: no guilt, no red numbers, no points to chase.

Week strip, habit grid, habit streak
The week strip shows where you stand this week. The habit grid shows your weeks over time, like a habit calendar, so consistency becomes something you can see rather than something you have to remember. Your habit streak shows how long a routine has held. Together they work as a consistency tracker, not a scorecard.

Reminders
One reminder at a time you pick, if you want one. In the evening, a short notice if a running streak would end today and the routine is still open.

Habits with friends
Show a routine to a friend with an invite code. They can see how it's going, read-only, and can't change a thing. A habit buddy who watches quietly. Sharing works without Pro.

Pacts (Pro)
A pact is the same routine on two accounts. You both check it off, you see each other's week, and the habit streak belongs to both of you. When one of you checks it off, the other gets a short notice. If you lock apps on a pact, they stay shut until you have both checked it off. The other person does not need Pro to say yes. It's a shared habit tracker for two people keeping the same thing going.

Locking apps
When your phone is what gets in the way, pick apps on this phone and tie them to a routine. They stay shut until today's routine is checked off, then they open again. Shutting them yourself stays free, and it always will. With Pro, they can also shut on their own, on the hours and days you pick. On Android this needs usage access and "display over other apps". Basalt only sees which app is in front, and your picks never leave the phone.

Places (Pro)
Tie a routine to a place, like your gym. You set the place by standing in it, and the day only checks off where it happened. Basalt reads your location only while the app is open.

What Pro adds
Without a subscription, Basalt is a weekly habit tracker for two routines, with everything above that isn't marked Pro. Basalt Pro adds more than two routines, the timer for locked apps, places and pacts. Pro is an optional subscription, billed through Google Play.

Basalt does not promise you will follow through. It is a consistency tracker: it keeps the record and stays out of the way.
