About this app

Forge is a machine you wear. A train of brass gears turns at the centre of a dial built from bolted steel plates, and a coloured rail runs round the edge like a warning light. Analog hands sweep over the gears, and the same time sits in large figures in an armoured window on the right, so you can read it either way.

WHAT IS ON THE DIAL

- Analog hours and minutes, with a thin seconds hand you can switch off
- The same time in large figures, in 24-hour or 12-hour form
- The weekday and the date under the figures, in your watch's language
- Three complications and two app shortcut slots
- Five colours for the rails, hands and readings

THREE COMPLICATIONS AND TWO APP SHORTCUT SLOTS

Press and hold the dial and tap Customize. Out of the box the three complications show:

- Top: the weather. On a Galaxy watch it arrives showing Samsung Weather. On other watches it arrives showing sunrise and sunset, and you can point it at any weather app you have.
- Left: how many notifications you have not read yet.
- Bottom: your step count.

Point any of them at another source and it follows. Each one takes short or long text with the provider's icon, a ranged value shown as its number, or an icon on its own, and any of them can be left empty.

The two small octagons either side of the gears are app shortcut slots. Give each one an app and a single tap opens it from the dial.

WEATHER

The weather complication shows what your watch's weather app knows. If the temperature does not appear, open the weather app on the watch once and let it find your location. The face itself asks for no permissions.

YOUR CHOICES IN CUSTOMIZE

- Phosphor color: Phosphor Orange, Electric Cyan, Acid Lime, Plasma Violet or Signal Red. It recolours the outer rails, the hands, the digital hour, the date and the readings. The gears and the armour stay steel and brass.
- 12-hour time: on, and the figures switch to 12-hour with a small AM or PM above them.
- Seconds indicator: on by default. Switch it off for a stiller dial.
- Metal Shine: a brighter polish on the steel plates, on by default.

ALWAYS-ON

The always-on screen drops the armour, the gears, the hands and every complication. The hour and the minute stay lit in large figures on black, with a faint ring. The always-on figures are always 24-hour.

GOOD TO KNOW

The Customize labels are in English in every language. There is no companion phone app, no account, no ads and no subscription.

SETTING IT UP

Buy it on your phone, then open the Play Store on your watch, where it is waiting in your library. Press and hold your current face, swipe to Forge and tap Customize.
