About this app

Herbarium is a night garden under glass. Dark dahlias and white blossom fill the left half of a black lacquer dial, rose-gold faceted markers run the rim, and two polished dauphine hands turn over the top of it. The hour and the minute are also printed large, in figures, so you can read the time without reading the hands.

WHAT IS ON THE DIAL

- Analog hours and minutes, with a slim seconds hand you can switch off
- The same time in large figures, hour above minute, in a colour you choose
- The weekday and the date in a framed window on the right, in your watch's language
- A battery arc at six o'clock with the percentage inside it
- Steps on the left and heart rate at the lower right
- A round app shortcut above the date window

TWO COMPLICATIONS AND AN APP SHORTCUT SLOT

Press and hold the dial, tap Customize, and the three round areas are yours.

- The left one arrives showing your step count, the lower right one your latest heart rate. Point either at something else and it follows: they take short text with the provider's icon, a ranged value, or an icon on its own. Either can also be left empty.
- The small round area above the date is an app shortcut slot. Give it an app and one tap opens it from the dial.

The battery arc at six o'clock is not a complication and cannot be reassigned. It always reads this watch's own battery, so the reading you glance at most is the one nothing can take away.

YOUR CHOICES IN CUSTOMIZE

- Colour of the digital time: Champagne and Burgundy, Ivory and Rose, Gold and Wine, Blush and Plum, or Cool White and Crimson. The hour takes the first colour, the minute the second. The flowers, the markers and the hands stay as they are.
- AM / PM: switch it on for a 12-hour dial with AM or PM above the hour. Left off, the face shows 24-hour time.
- Seconds hand: on by default. Switch it off for a stiller dial.

ALWAYS-ON

This is where a photographic dial usually costs you the day. Herbarium's always-on screen puts the photography out entirely, along with both complications, the app shortcut and the seconds hand. What is left is the pair of hands dimmed to a low glow, the digital time, the date and the centre cap, on black. Nearly the whole screen stays unlit.

GOOD TO KNOW

The Customize labels are in English in every language, and so are the colour names. The weekday in the date window comes from your watch and follows its language. There is no companion phone app, no account, no ads and no subscription, and the face asks for no permissions at all.

SETTING IT UP

Buy it on your phone, then open the Play Store on your watch, where it is waiting in your library. Press and hold your current face, swipe along to Herbarium and tap Customize.

What’s new

First release.

A black lacquer dial with night flowers, rose-gold faceted markers and dauphine hands, plus the hour and minute in large figures. Two complications, an app shortcut slot, a battery arc that always shows this watch's own battery, five colours for the digital time, 12 or 24 hour, an optional seconds hand, and an always-on screen that drops the photography entirely.
