About this game

Ion Wing is a retro arcade space shooter made for the round screen of a Wear OS watch. Enemy formations sweep in, your ship fires on its own, and your job is to dodge, break the formation and chase a high score.

STEER BY TILTING YOUR WRIST
Turn on Wrist Tilt in Settings and the watch's motion sensors fly the ship: dip the right edge down to slide right, the left edge to slide left. Calibration takes the angle you are holding the watch at as the centre, so it never has to lie flat, and it re-centres at the start of every flight with a three-second countdown. Pick low, normal or high sensitivity, reverse the direction if you prefer, and try it on the live Calibrate screen before you launch. If your watch has no rotation sensor, or the signal is not steady, the game tells you and switches to touch.

OR STEER BY TOUCH AND CROWN
Tilt is optional. Drag a finger left and right anywhere on the screen, or turn the rotating crown or bezel.

100 MISSIONS
The campaign runs through ten sectors of ten missions each, from Outer Relay to Echo Core, and gets faster and tougher as you go. Missions sit on one scrolling wheel you move with a finger or the crown. Clear one and the next unlocks; lose and you only repeat that mission, because cleared missions stay unlocked. Every mission keeps its best score.

21 BOSS FIGHTS
A boss waits on mission 3 and on every fifth mission after it. There are five boss behaviours: aimed spreads, a fast narrow volley, walls of bullets with one gap, a boss that phase-shifts, and one that mixes them. Each boss fight has three phases, and once its core is exposed a warning beam starts tracking you.

ENDLESS SURVIVAL
No finish line. Waves are drawn at random, the pace keeps rising, a boss arrives every five waves, and beating it repairs your ship and gives you a shield. Your best score, highest wave and longest run are kept as separate records.

ARCADE ESSENTIALS
- Automatic twin cannons, so your thumb is free to fly.
- Four enemy types: fighters, divers that swoop down, gunships that fire three ways, and carriers that launch escorts.
- Shield, power and repair pickups.
- Chain kills for a score multiplier up to x4.
- Fill the Ion Drive and fire faster in Overdrive.
- Three hull points per flight.

PICK UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF
Leave mid-flight and the game pauses and saves. The campaign and survival mode keep separate saves, so a survival run never costs you a mission.

SETTINGS
Sound on or off, haptics on or off, and reduced effects for a calmer screen.

NOTHING ELSE TO SET UP
It runs on the watch by itself: no phone app, no account, no internet, no ads and nothing to buy inside. The only permission it uses is vibration, for haptics.

Needs Wear OS 3 or newer. The game's own labels are in English.
