Vernier is a machined instrument dial for Wear OS: a raised analog clock in the middle, four complication bays milled into the ring around it, and an engraved year scale at the rim.

NOTHING EVER COVERS ANYTHING

Every hand ends inside the central puck. Every reading sits outside it. That is geometry, not a setting you have to find - a hand physically cannot reach a complication on this face, at any time of day.

THE YEAR ON THE RIM

Twelve engraved month caps, each spanning its own month's share of the year, with four beads between them and one marker sitting on today. January begins at twelve o'clock. The marker is always beside a word, so it reads at a glance instead of being decoded.

FOUR COMPLICATION BAYS

Upper right, lower right, lower left, upper left. Each complication takes short text, a ranged value, a monochrome icon or a small image, and shows the provider's own icon above the reading. Out of the box: heart rate, watch battery, steps and sunrise/sunset - change any of them to whatever your watch offers.

None of the four can be emptied - an empty state is not among the types they accept, so the picker offers no way to clear one. Long text is not among them either. Pick four things you actually want to look at; a bay you have no use for will still show something.

The battery bay draws a sideways cell that fills with the charge left.

TWO FACES OF THE SAME DIAL

Time layout puts the hours and minutes across the foot in large digits, with the weekday and date above. Date layout swaps them: the day and weekday go large, the day of the year sits at the top under a DAY label, and the temperature appears beneath. Twelve or twenty-four hour follows your watch's own setting.

A step goal arc rides the clock's rim and fills as you walk.

THE TEMPERATURE NEEDS ONE PERMISSION, ONCE

It comes from the watch's own weather service, and Wear OS does not grant watch faces location access by default. Until you allow it - Settings, Security and privacy, Permission manager, Location, Watch faces - that line is not drawn. Everything else works the moment you install it.

TEN ANODISED PACKS, AND THE REST

Colour: 10 packs - Graphite, Titanium, Copper, Cobalt, Oxide, Olive, Sand, Glacier, Lime, Plum. Each carries its accent, rim metal and ink together, so every stop looks finished.
Hands: 4 - Syringe, Sword, Skeleton, Baton.
Dial: indices, or indices with 12/3/6/9 numerals added.
Layout: Time or Date.
Seconds: on or off.
Always-on: Full, Time and hands, Hands and indices, or Hands only.
Always-on brightness: Low, Medium, High.

3,840 combinations in all - 320 different daytime dials and 72 different always-on screens.

ALWAYS-ON

White strokes on true black, and it follows the layout you chose rather than reverting to the time. Complications and the year ring are not drawn in always-on; hands, indices and the time or date are. There is no seconds hand in always-on - Wear OS updates that screen once a minute, and no watch face can move a second hand there.

HOW TO CUSTOMISE

Press and hold the watch face, tap Customize, then swipe left and right between settings and up and down to change one. To set a bay, choose it, save, then tap the bay itself to pick what goes in it.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Wear OS 5 or later (API 34). Galaxy Watch 4 and newer once on Wear OS 5, Pixel Watch, and other Wear OS 5 watches. It will not install below that.

There is no phone app, nothing to sign in to. Buy it on the watch, or buy it on the phone and it appears on the watch.

IF IT DOES NOT INSTALL

Sign in on the watch with the same Google account you bought it with - a mismatched account is by far the most common cause. After buying, give the watch a minute, then open the Play store on the watch and look under Library.
