An evening dress watch. The light pools up from the lower rim of the dial and the top stays deep, so twelve applied indices catch it one way at the foot and another at the crown. Each index has a lit flank and a shaded flank over a baked keyline and a drop shadow, the twelve is a double index, and sixty ticks run between the two rails of a railroad minute track. The hands are dauphine, faceted the same way, and the seconds hand sweeps.
FOUR COMPLICATIONS, AND THE FACE COMPUTES NOTHING
Battery on the left, steps on the right, the date below the centre, and the weather under the double twelve. All four are complications you reassign on the watch, and each one takes a short text reading, a gauge, or the provider's own icon.
That matters more than it sounds. Since no reading here is drawn by the face, the degrees, the units and the wording come from the provider you already use. There is nothing on this dial for us to get wrong on your behalf, and nothing you are stuck with.
ONE SWITCH FOR A CLEAN DIAL
Clean dial empties all four at once and leaves the hands, the indices and the track. Nothing is left behind: no ring, no backing plate, no hole where a reading used to be. Turn it back on and the four return where they were. You can also clear a single complication in Customize and keep the other three.
WEATHER IN THE CORNER, WITHOUT SETTING IT UP
The upper complication arrives bound to Samsung's weather complication, so on a Galaxy Watch the temperature and its symbol are there the moment you install the face, with nothing to assign. On a watch that does not carry that provider, the same one arrives showing sunrise and sunset instead. Either way it stays yours: point it at whatever you like, or empty it.
SIX DIALS, FOUR METALS
Indigo, Slate, Oxblood, Bronze, Forest and Charcoal, each with Gold, Steel, Rose gold or Copper. The metal is not a background hue. It recolours the index flanks, both flanks of the hands, the two rails of the track, the hub ring and every readout together, so the four read as different materials rather than different colours. The sweeping seconds hand can be hidden if you prefer the dial still. Everything is chosen on the watch; there is no phone app to install.
ALWAYS-ON
The ambient dial keeps twelve hour marks and two outlined hands and drops the rest, measured at 2.3 percent of the screen lit. No reading burns in ambient, because none of them is drawn by the face.
CHANGING IT IS ONE LONG PRESS
Press and hold the dial and tap Customize. From there you choose the dial colour, the metal, whether the seconds hand sweeps or hides, and Clean dial - and you point each of the four complications at whichever provider you like. It is all on the watch: no phone app, no account, no sign-in.
Built with Watch Face Format. No account, no subscription, no ads.
