DocCipher is a document vault that keeps your important papers encrypted on your device, with no DocCipher account.
WHAT IT'S FOR
ID cards, passports, insurance papers, contracts, warranties, medical records — the papers you cannot afford to lose but do not want sitting in someone else's cloud. DocCipher gives them one encrypted, searchable home on your phone.
HOW IT WORKS
- Your documents are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM, protected by a master password strengthened through Argon2id key derivation.
- Add documents from your files or photo library, several at a time, or photograph a paper with your phone's camera app.
- On-device text recognition (OCR) reads scanned pages and photos, so you can later find a document by its content, not only its file name.
- Journeys help you gather your papers: Warranties and purchases, Essential papers, Travel. They count the documents and dates you added; a count is never a check.
- See which expiry and renewal dates are coming up, and turn on a reminder 30 days before each expiry date if you wish. A reminder never shows a document's name, and your phone may delay it.
- Organize with folders, tags, categories and per-document details such as issuer, dates and notes.
- Open documents in a built-in viewer that never writes a decrypted copy to your storage.
- Lock your vault with your master password, a PIN, or biometrics. Biometrics only releases a key already held on your device — it is never your only protection.
- A recovery kit (a 24-word phrase, a QR code and a printable PDF) is generated when you create your vault, so a forgotten password does not mean lost documents. The kit can also become an image key: an ordinary-looking picture locked by a code you choose (at least 12 characters). Without that code, the image opens nothing; it survives compression but not cropping, and everything is done offline, on your device. Keep your kit somewhere safe: DocCipher cannot recover it for you.
- Back up your whole vault to a single encrypted file and restore it on a new device. Exporting a document in plain, unencrypted form always requires two separate confirmations, and you choose exactly where that file goes.

- Your documents and their content are processed locally in DocCipher. A document or a backup leaves your device only when you export it yourself and choose where it goes.
- Purchases and Premium entitlements are handled through Google Play and RevenueCat.

- Lets you add documents to several vaults, each with its own master password and its own keys.
- Unlocks emergency codes: a panic PIN that deletes the vaults you choose, on this device (backups you saved elsewhere stay where you put them; physical erasure is not guaranteed), and a decoy vault, opened by a separate PIN, that shows only its own content. It protects against prying eyes; it does not guarantee plausible deniability. An activated code keeps working after a refund.
The price is shown in the app, as listed on Google Play. The real capacity depends on the size of your documents and the space available on your device. If Premium ends, for example after a refund, every vault and every document stays readable and exportable, and restoring a backup stays free.

It does not protect against someone holding your unlocked phone, screen capture by a system-level app, physical coercion, or a weak password — no app can promise that, and we will not pretend otherwise.
