About this app

Barbecuing with charcoal is the only way to achieve that unbelievable succulent, tantalizing flavor. Whether you're cooking beef brisket, pork ribs, or chicken wings, the key ingredients to mastering delicious barbecue are the perfect mix of time and temperature. Conquering this slow cooking process allows the tough, chewy protein fibers in meat to break down and transform into incredibly tender barbecue. The problem is that charcoal is notoriously difficult to control and wild temperature fluctuations can result in tough, dried, or burnt meat. Powered by smart technology, the BBQ Guru temperature control devices easily avoid this disaster by remotely measuring the internal temperature of your foods and effortlessly maintaining the precise cooking temperature inside your grill. The revolutionary DynaQ and UltraQ controllers take outdoor cooking to the next level with the Guru Status Light Ring. At a glance, you can get visual feedback on the status of your cooking temperature and the operation of the control. In addition, you can use this app to monitor or update your BBQ Guru temperature control device via Bluetooth or WiFi to achieve perfect predictability and consistency with your cooks without needing to hover by the cooker. You can also setup email and text notifications, so you’ll always know the most up-to-date status of your BBQ. Whether you’re in your backyard playing with the kids, relaxing by the pool, or hanging out with friends and family, a quick check on your phone over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi ensures your food is on target.

The app and the controller it "connects" to are pure garbage. I've owned it and argued with it for several years. The firmware updates briefly restore operation, but the default state of this system is: broken. As others have stated, it routinely drops or refuses to connect to Bluetooth. The app regularly crashes when attempting to change settings. The pit temp. control mostly works, but lately even that will not respond to the displayed pit temp. Don't buy this system.

This app simply doesn't work. The UI is also poorly designed. This is my second controller from you folks (I have an old DigiQ). My primary reason for upgrading was to be able to control via the web without having to fool around with port forwarding. After reading your return policy I understand I can't return this controller (which works well in manual mode). Your good product is being ruined by not being able to support the app that's supposed to provide remote control.

Hi Rich, we apologize for the issues you are having with the app. We are aware that some users are having issues and are working tirelessly to get the problem corrected ASAP. In the meantime, the UltraQ can still be controlled through ShareMyCook.com. If you need instructions for this process please email customerservice@thebbqguru.com.

Crashes on android 10. The app will not allow me to enter the share my cook credentials as the login button doesn't work on an Android 10 on a Samsung Fold. Clicking the login button over and over and nothing happens. In addition when it tries to do a firmware update from the Android the app immediately crashes. As a backup I put it on my iPad where it is working well. I did email customer service but didn't hear back. app was uninstalled and reinstalled. edit: thanks for the superfast response! the update did work for the firmware, but it seems to update the firmware even though it has been updated already by my ipad. good news on the other fix. I'll sit tight.

Hi Tony, thank you for your feedback. The firmware update bug should be fixed in our latest release dated 5/20 or 5/21. Please refresh the Play store, confirm the last updated date, and update the app. We'll look into this as well as the login button issue and get any necessary fixes for it into our next release. Thanks for your patience & support!
