Great app, super useful. I have this tied into my Amazon echo, and I use it every day to control my fans. When I'm in bed at night and it's too hot/cold, it's great to be able to control my fan without having to get up. I can use the app on my phone, or just say "Alexa, turn window fan off." It was a little buggy in the beginning but after the first few weeks I haven't had any trouble with it.
Getting Better *Updating my previous 1 star review to 3 stars* Just noticed they finally added widget support, which is awesome!!! The app does also feel a bit smoother. Very much a step in the right direction. It would be 4 stars, but I just had an issue where it was asking me to go through setup again, but then found my previous settings once I got on wifi. If they could polish up things like that, would be a pretty good experience.
App works great The wall plugs work great. The wall switch was kind of a pain and took a few attempts to configure but that is not the apps fault. It needs good WiFi strength so make sure the devices are in a good proximity of your wifi. App rules work great as of now. I have also tired mine through other apps into Google home and love it.
Try Tp-link or something else Had my wemos for a few years now. Finally the app has been fairly stable and reliable for the last few months (working about 80% of the time - a HUGE improvement) and now they have (about 3 years late!) added Widgets. Great (added one star for this). Only now 2 of my 4 wemos have disappeared so are useless to me. Best advice to give you, don't buy these switches try another make.
Great device for turning off Christmas tree So far the Wemo works great for turning on/off my Christmas tree. The only problem I ran into was with connecting the Wemo to my home Wi-Fi network. The Fix for my android Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was turning off scanning for nearby Wi-Fi devices. Once this was disabled, I was able to connect wemo directly to my home wireless network.
As usual, it doesn't work I've had wemos since they were introduced, and the app is only marginally better now than when it was first launched for Android. I tried to make a new rule for the lightswitch long press, but it's greyed out so I can't select it. I suspect that a firmware upgrade is required, but the app isn't saying so and after three years there still isn't a way to manually check for updates. I feel like this is basic stuff.
Two big updates in this version.
We’ve added a “long press” feature for Wemo Light Switch users that allows you to control any number of other Wemos with a two-second press of the Light Switch. Cool, right?
And we’re finally launching Widgets on the Android platform. Save a widget to your control screen to sleekly, effortlessly (if quite belatedly) control your Wemos without having to launch the app.
