Play violin with a real bow. Put it on a string, draw it up and down, and the note sounds only while the bow is moving - exactly like an acoustic violin. Violin is a fretless violin simulator: four strings, no fret lines, and a fingerboard where the pitch follows your finger.

Made for beginners, students, teachers and anyone who loves the sound of a bowed string.

🎻 REALISTIC BOW CONTROL
• Draw the bow. Touch it, set it on a string and pull it up or down for a smooth, continuous tone.
• Bow speed becomes loudness, and every change of direction starts a fresh attack - an up-bow and a down-bow never sound the same.
• Tilt the bow to cross between the four strings (G, D, A, E), the way a violinist changes the angle of the arm. A straight stroke stays on the string you are playing.
• Bow near the bridge for a bright, strong tone, or over the fingerboard for a soft, warm one - sul ponticello and sul tasto.

🎼 FRETLESS FINGERBOARD, CONTINUOUS PITCH
• No frets, no steps. Touch anywhere on the four-string board and you get exactly that pitch.
• Real glissando. Slide your finger and the note slides with it: the sound bends instead of jumping to the nearest semitone.
• 30 semitones on every string, an overall range from G3 up to A#7.
• Natural vibrato lives inside the bowed tone at the width and speed a violinist actually uses, so a held note breathes instead of sitting still.
• Multi-touch. Hold a note with one hand while the other works the bow.

🎶 ARCO, PIZZICATO AND AN 88-KEY KEYBOARD
• Arco: bow the string for long, singing, orchestral notes.
• Pizzicato: pluck it for a short, crisp tone that decays on its own and keeps ringing after you lift your finger.
• 88-key piano layout (A0 to C8) playing the same violin sound. Show or hide note names in scientific (C4, D4) or solfege (Do, Re, Mi) notation, and scroll to any octave.

🎧 SHAPE THE SOUND
• 5-band equalizer from 60 Hz to 14 kHz.
• Presets: Classical, Rock, Jazz, Pop and Flat.
• Sustain: how long a note rings after you release it.
• Velocity: how strongly the notes speak.
• Metronome with adjustable tempo.

A WORD ON THE SOUND
The violin set was built for this app rather than pulled off a shelf. Bowed notes loop seamlessly for as long as you hold them and stop when the bow leaves the string. Plucked notes fade on their own. The wound G and D strings sound darker than the plain A and E, exactly as they do on a real instrument. And between the written pitches the app bends the tone instead of snapping to the nearest one - that is what makes a slide sound like a violin and not a keyboard.

Ratings and reviews

Played four notes and an ad popped up. Also, I have heard cello before and it is far deeper than what I heard on those first four notes I played. Immediately uninstalled.

There are worse apps. It's not going to change the world of music or anything but the instruments sound okay. Not a professional piece of kit but a fun toy
