Bengali, also known as Bangla, is the 5th most spoken language in the world. It is the national language of Bangladesh and the official language of the Indian states West Bengal, Tripura, and the Barak Valley region of the state of Assam.
The Bengali script is also used for other languages such as Assamese and Maithili.
