Bulgarian Lessons is a Bulgarian course for English speakers. Explanations, translations and exercises are all in English, and you start from the very first letter of the Cyrillic alphabet.
What’s inside
• Level A1: 13 units and 70 lessons, from greetings and numbers to shopping, home, weather and travel.
• A first unit that teaches all 30 Cyrillic letters through useful words.
• 348 words and phrases with example sentences, and 40 grammar topics explained for English speakers.
• 27 dialogues from everyday situations.
• Audio for every word, sentence and dialogue, plus pronunciation tips in Latin letters.
• Notes on false friends: магазин is a shop, not a magazine.
How a lesson works
A lesson takes a few minutes. New words appear on cards, then come the exercises: choose the right answer, recognise a word by ear, type it, build a sentence from parts, match pairs. Answers are checked straight away, and after each lesson you see your accuracy, your listening score and the words worth reviewing.
Review that remembers your mistakes
Review mode only uses words you have already met. The ones you got wrong come up more often, the ones you know come up less, but they never disappear. Your hardest words have their own screen.
Easy to keep going
• The home screen tells you where to start: review your words or continue your lesson.
• A dictionary of everything you have studied, filtered by strength: weak, medium, strong, new.
• Download lesson audio in advance and listen without an internet connection.
• Your progress is saved on the server, and with an account it moves to a new phone too.
Free and Pro
All courses are free: one new lesson a day, with unlimited reviews and lesson repeats. Pro removes the daily limit. There are monthly and yearly subscriptions with a 7-day free trial, and a one-off lifetime purchase. You can cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play.
Who it’s for
For anyone moving to Bulgaria or planning to, working with Bulgarian colleagues, travelling, or simply curious about a Slavic language. No prior knowledge of Cyrillic needed.
