A top-down pixel art action shooter with a noir story. Cut the power and take down the crew selling blackouts in a harbour city.
Saltmarrow has been under rolling blackouts for nine nights, and everyone blames the storm. Wren Okafor, a night-shift lineworker who knows every breaker in the city, finds out the dark is being sold. A crew called the Sootline cuts the power to a block so their clients can work unseen.
Wren turns their trick against them. She cuts the lights and comes in fast.
FIGHT IN THE DARK
Lit rooms favour the crew's eyes. Dark rooms favour yours. Throw a breaker and the room drops into shadow, and you fight by the glow of flashlights, neon and muzzle flashes. But every shot you fire lights you up, and the crew's technicians will walk to a dead panel and switch it back on unless you reach them first.
• Cut breakers to plunge rooms into darkness
• Surge a lamp, sign or screen to blind the crew standing in its light
• Kick doors in, shatter glass, throw empty guns
• Read the room by the crew's flashlights, lanterns and night-vision glow
TWIN-STICK SHOOTING, NO RELOADS
Movement is instant and most things go down in one or two hits, Wren included. Guns have no reloads: when one runs dry, throw it and grab another. Every threat is telegraphed, and a retry takes under a second.
17 MISSIONS AND 4 BOSS FIGHTS
A single-player campaign in a prologue and four acts, across the city: cold stores and fish markets on the docks, a neon strip with a karaoke bar and a nightclub, the hill where the lights never go out, and the switchyard that powers it all. The story is told in short briefings between missions and one-line radio calls that never pause the action.
Each boss fight has a trick to read and break: a dock boss who charges behind a steel shield, a club owner who strobes the room on his own beat, a security chief whose thermal visor sees in the dark, and the one man who knows the grid better than Wren does.
