About this app

Balkans eSIM is the travel data plan for a road trip that crosses two or three borders in a week: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo all sit outside EU roaming, and US carrier day passes there add up fast. Install the Balkans eSIM on Wi-Fi before you fly and your phone is online at Belgrade Nikola Tesla or Tirana airport before you reach baggage claim.

Why Balkans eSIM:
• One plan for six countries, so the data you buy for Serbia keeps working when you cross into Bosnia or Montenegro
• No daily international pass from your home carrier and no surprise roaming bill after the trip
• Your US number stays on your physical SIM for calls and texts; the eSIM only handles data
• Skip the phone shop and the passport registration at every border
• 4G/5G in the cities, LTE on the highways and the coast
• Live usage tracking and top-ups inside the app

Where it works:
Belgrade and Novi Sad, Sarajevo and Mostar, Kotor, Budva and Perast, Tirana, Berat and the Albanian Riviera, Skopje and Lake Ohrid, Pristina and Prizren. The Balkans plan covers Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo; separate country plans for Croatia, Greece, Bulgaria and Türkiye are in the same app, so a Dubrovnik to Kotor to Tirana itinerary or a Sarajevo to Istanbul extension is covered too.

How it works:
• Pick a plan and pay with Google Pay or card
• Install the eSIM by QR code or directly in the app; your phone must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked, and the app checks compatibility before you buy
• After landing, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and you are connected

Plans:
Balkans regional plan for six countries, single-country plans, Europe plans and global plans, valid for 7 to 30 days with data from 1 GB up to large plans for heavy users. Unlimited plans are available too; after the daily high-speed allowance, speed is reduced until the next day but you stay connected. Running low in Budva takes a few taps to fix with a top-up. The Balkans eSIM works as a second line, so your phone number does not change.

Who it is for:
• Road trippers driving Belgrade to Sarajevo, Mostar, Kotor and Tirana
• Serbian, Bosnian, Albanian and Macedonian families in the US visiting relatives back home
• Beach weeks in Montenegro or on the Albanian Riviera
• Digital nomads settling in for a month in Belgrade or Tirana
• Study abroad students and business travelers with meetings in Belgrade or Skopje

Crossing a border used to mean a new SIM card or a roaming bill. One eSIM covers the whole trip: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria and Turkey. Drive Zagreb to Belgrade to Skopje, or fly into one country and take the bus to the next — the line stays connected.

Airports covered: Belgrade (BEG), Sarajevo (SJJ), Podgorica (TGD), Tivat (TIV), Tirana (TIA), Skopje (SKP), Ohrid (OHD), Pristina (PRN), Dubrovnik (DBV), Split (SPU), Zagreb (ZAG), Sofia (SOF), Thessaloniki (SKG) and Istanbul (IST).

Common questions

Do I have to take my SIM card out? No. The eSIM is a second line, so your own number keeps working for calls and bank codes while data runs on the local network.

When does the plan start? At your first connection in the region, not on the day you buy. Install it at home on Wi-Fi and switch it on when you arrive.

Does it really work in every country on the list? Yes, on the same plan. You do not buy a separate package per border.

Can I share the connection? Yes, every plan allows tethering, so a car full of people travels on one plan.

Works with iPhone 11 and later, Galaxy S21 and later, Pixel 3 and later, and most unlocked eSIM phones.

Also used by Albanian, Serbian and Bosnian families in the States going home for the summer.
