Ever had a call accidentally switch to video, go on mute, or hang up because your cheek touched the screen?
Budget Samsung Galaxy phones (A series, FE series, Quantum series) use camera-based virtual proximity sensors instead of hardware IR sensors. These virtual sensors are slow and unreliable, causing frequent accidental screen touches during calls.
ShieldTap places a touch-blocking overlay on your screen during calls to prevent these accidental touches.
■ Basic Mode (Free)
• Manual on/off via side tab button on screen edge
• Activate before making a call
■ Plus Mode (Free for now)
• Automatically activates when a call connects
• Automatically deactivates when the call ends
■ Touch Lock (non-call)
• For watching videos, wet hands, handing the phone to a child, etc.
• Transparent overlay keeps the screen visible while blocking touches
• Move the side tab button anywhere — left/right, up/down
■ Accessibility Service
• ShieldTap uses the Android AccessibilityService API
• Used only for its core feature: showing the touch-blocking blind and side tab button on screen
• Does not read screen content, change settings, control other apps, or record calls
• Works only after you turn it on in Settings, and can be turned off anytime
■ Privacy
• Does not collect, store, or transmit personal data or call content
• Open source (source code available on GitHub)
■ Target Devices
• Smartphones with camera-based virtual proximity sensors
• Galaxy S25 FE, S24 FE, S23 FE, S22 FE
• Galaxy A17, A16, A15, A14, A13
• Galaxy Quantum 6, 5, 4, 3
• Other Android devices with virtual proximity sensors
Blocks accidental screen touches during calls. Great for budget phones.
