About this app

Every story and podcast in TraceSpark is built from the words and phrases you saved. No word lists, no drills, no streaks. US$12.50/mo, later on · Free until then. Price locked 12 months from your first payment.

You are past beginner apps. You read in your target language, you listen to it, and you still meet words you half-know and then lose again. The usual story app starts from a level and a topic. TraceSpark starts from what you met this week: save a word where you meet it, and it comes back inside something worth reading.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Save from anywhere on your phone
Select text in any app and send it to TraceSpark. Share a screenshot: circle, underline or highlight a word first, and TraceSpark takes what you marked plus the sentence around it. Or type it straight into TraceSpark.

2. Get more than a translation
Every saved item, a Trace, comes back with a translation, a definition written in your target language, a note on register and nuance, and a separate note on how the word behaves in your region. Words, phrases, grammar points and cultural concepts are each handled as what they are.

3. Read or listen to what your words became
A Spark is one episode. Start a series and TraceSpark plans a ten-part arc before it writes chapter one, then carries the previous chapter forward so the story stays continuous. Your Traces are woven into each chapter, and a second pass checks which ones appeared, conjugations and inflections included. Ask for a suggested premise and TraceSpark builds it around the words you get wrong most.

FICTION OR PODCAST
Ten fiction genres, from mystery to slice of life. Or a podcast episode with one host or two hosts in conversation, across ten subject areas including true crime, science, history and business. Skip the list and write your own genre, characters, setting and house rules instead: each one goes straight into what gets generated.

LISTEN ANYWHERE
Audio is written to your device once, so playback needs no signal. Lock-screen and notification controls, headset buttons, and speed from 0.8x to 1.3x.

THREE WAYS TO READ
The player on its own, the player with the full script on screen, or, for stories, a paginated reader.

GRADE WITHOUT LEAVING THE STORY
A grading console sits at the bottom of the screen: Again, Hard, Good, Easy, with an undo window and a recall sheet at the end of the episode.

SCHEDULED WITH FSRS-6
TraceSpark schedules your reviews with FSRS-6, the same open-source algorithm Anki ships, at a 90% retention target.

14 LANGUAGES, 17 REGIONAL VARIETIES
Spanish (Spain and Latin America), French (France and Canada), Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Italian, German, Dutch, English, Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Polish, Russian and Turkish, plus an optional accent field for your own region.

WRITTEN TO YOUR LEVEL
Choose A1 through C2. Your level sets episode length, sentence length, grammar range, plot complexity, register and the narrator's writing style.

THE APP ITSELF SPEAKS YOUR TARGET LANGUAGE
Switch the interface into the language you are learning.

WHAT IT COSTS
US$12.50/mo, later on · Free until then. Price locked 12 months from your first payment.
Seven audio episodes a week. Written episodes are unlimited.

TraceSpark is for adults at a strong B1 to C1 who want the reading and listening they already do to carry their own vocabulary. It is not a speaking tutor. There are no streaks, no leaderboards and no cartoons.
