The Celtic languages are living languages. But the tools available to learners have never matched the languages themselves. Generic apps translate Spanish-course templates. Grammar books explain rules you can't apply.

blas. is built from scratch for the six living Celtic languages. Séimhiú, urú, treigladau, kemmadurioù. I love the idea of the app, and I really appreciate the fact that it teaches grammar early on, so you can understand everything you are learning. However, in the Irish course, there are many mistakes throughout. For example: dá n-nigh d'cheannaigh Ni dhéan sí As well as unusual choices like cloigeann for head as opposed to ceann, or gabh for go instead of téigh. I still use the app to learn grammar, but it needs more attention to detail in the Irish course.

I like that it goes over grammer vs Duolingo but its NOT beginner friendly and is pretty overwhelming... It throws sentences at you full of words you have not learnt, it talks of lenition and other terms without explaining what these even are... The spelling has to be spot on. Puzzles dont have instructions for some of them. Has potential but falls way short of the mark. Not motivated to use. Find myself confused. To learn Scots Gaelic needs multiple platforms... boo I just want one good one!

The information cards are useful but often use phrases that are unfamiliar to people who are new to learning the languages - was presented with the grammatical term 'copula' and expected to know what it meant well before the answer was offered in a lesson card and when that information was offered later it was still hard to understand. Similarly asked to spell out words that haven't been presented prior. Not sure if I'm learning or just guessing.
