About this app

Bytepad is the notepad you expect: simple and straightforward, with tabs and everything you need on your phone. Open several files at once, write, find, replace and save your texts wherever you like.

Write without worries:
- Tabs like in a browser: keep several files open and switch between them with one tap.
- Open tabs stay there even when you close the app, unsaved changes included.
- Undo and Redo for every tab, turned off when there is nothing left to undo.
- Open and save real files, on your phone, on an SD card or on Drive. Tap a .txt file in your file manager or in an attachment and choose Bytepad.
- Share text from another app and it instantly becomes a new tab.

The right tools:
- Find and replace, with match case and regular expressions.
- Go to line, and line numbers next to the text.
- Clean up lines: remove empty lines, duplicate lines and extra spaces, or join lines.
- Sort lines from A to Z, by length, in reverse, or shuffle them.
- Number lines and change upper and lower case with one tap.
- Date and time, Lorem ipsum, and the .LOG trick for diaries: type .LOG on the first line and the app adds the date and time every time you open the file.

For people who write for the web:
- HTML bar for bold, italic, links, images, lists and headings, with a preview.
- Markdown bar, with a preview and "Copy HTML" ready to paste into your blog.

Everything under control:
- UTF-8, UTF-16, ANSI, ISO-8859-1 and US-ASCII encodings, and CRLF or LF line endings. The app warns you if a character cannot be converted.
- Rename files and see where they are, how big they are and when they were changed.
- Back up your tabs to a .zip file you can save anywhere, or to your Google backup if you turn it on.
- Light or dark theme, three fonts, zoom and word wrap.
- In 20 languages.
