The application informs the public about missing children and seniors who are in immediate danger to life or health, not about all missing persons (several thousand cases per year). The Police of the Czech Republic exclusively decides which missing persons appear in the ECHO application. The application aims to help exclusively in these most serious cases, of which there are several dozen every year.
The ECHO application was created in close cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of the Interior - it is directly connected to the police database of missing persons at risk. When the Police enters a new case into the database, all users receive a notification and more detailed information about the case. The first hours after the disappearance are crucial, and with every passing minute the chance of finding it decreases significantly. In the ECHO application, up-to-date information is always available. Users can call the Police of the Czech Republic with one press and provide relevant information.
