About this app

Set the Wifi Network on your (headless) Raspberry Pi (or similar linux-based device) via Bluetooth using your phone or tablet. No need to connect a keyboard/mouse and monitor to your Raspberry Pi to set up or change the wifi network. The app displays the wifi networks that your Raspberry Pi (RPi) detects. You can select a Wifi Network, enter the password and have your Raspberry Pi connect to it. The SSID and password is sent to your RPi via bluetooth, and the Raspberry Pi save the Network info (so it will always connect without using the app again).

Important - You must do the following first - Important:
You must first install the corresponding python program on your Raspberry Pi in order for the Raspberry Pi to be detected by the App and to exchange bluetooth data. This python code is provided free of charge as open source by the developper.
An installation script is provided: Follow the instructions at:
https://github.com/nksan/Rpi-SetWiFi-viaBluetooth

You can find a detailed video/user guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsxoMJfj3QY

The app has three functionality levels - accessible via in-app purchases.

1) Free Level:
You can have the Raspberry Pi connect to any wifi networks that ate already setup on your Raspberry Pi (useful if you move the RPi to various places)
You can create one (1) new Wifi Network (with password) on a Raspberry Pi via the app.
This version allows you to prove that your Raspberry Pi is set up correctly, and prove the functionality of the app.
You can also turn off/on the wifi radio on the Raspberry Pi.

2) Standard Level - Basic usage:
Free version +:
You can add an unlimited number of new Wifi Networks to an unlimited number of Raspberry Pi.
You also have the ability to add hidden Networks (wifi networks that do not broadcast their SSID).
All bluetooth transmission are sent in clear text. This is practical in home or similar settings where you know there are no unknown actors around equipped with bluetooth "sniffers".

3) Premium - Security and Extra Information:
Includes Standard level + :
The ability to delete an existing Network from the Raspberry Pi (so it will no longer connect automatically to it).

Encrypted network communication: You set a password on the Raspberry Pi, and enter this password in the App. When you turn this on (Lock the Pi), all SSID and passwords sent over the bluetooth channel is encrypted. This hides the information from so-called bluetooth "sniffers".
This also lock the Raspberry PI: Other BtBerryWifi app users can see your Raspberry Pi but cannot connect to it to change your wifi setting. (they need the password - which is created on the Raspberry Pi).

You also get Extra Information:
You are provided with the IP4 and IP6 addresses of the Raspberry Pi on the wifi network (useful if you need to ssh).
You also get the mac addresses of the wifi, bluetooth and ethernet adapter on your Raspberry Pi.
Also you see each live network in the vicinity, its wifi signal strength, channel and frequency (in table format) : This is useful to manage interference between routers.
Finally, you can define functions on the Raspberry Pi (by editing the python code) to gather other information about the Raspberry Pi - and this information is sent to and displayed on your Android device (via bluetooth).

Operating Systems:
The app is primarily written for Raspberry Pi or similar devices, and has been tested on the RaspOS: Buster (V10), Bullseye (V11), Bookworm (V12).
It has also been tested with Armbian, as well as some later version of Ubuntu.
It works with either wpa_supplicant directly, or with Network Manager if it is installed.
