Whether in the garden, in the city park or in the forest: where there are trees, you usually meet squirrels. It's fun to watch the little guys. Nevertheless, surprisingly little is known about how and where squirrels live in Bavaria and how their population develops.
We at BUND Naturschutz want to change that! Because the more we know about the little croissants, the better we can protect them and their habitats. Together with you, we want to find out where there are squirrels in Bavaria, how many there are and what activities you can observe them.
We need your support for this. Everyone can participate, every observation counts. Join us, become a squirrel researcher and report when and where you saw squirrels - quickly and easily with our app.
• Report squirrels: when and where sighted, what coat color and activity? The entry takes only seconds.
• Squirrel Map: Discover where squirrels have been spotted everywhere in Bavaria.
• Get to know squirrels: What do squirrels eat? How do you find your buried nuts? Learn more about the "Kobolds of the Forest".
The "Squirrel in Bavaria" project
With its project, the BUND Naturschutz in Bayern (BN) wants to collect important insights into the squirrels in Bavaria together with the citizens. As a citizen researcher, everyone can help on-site to make the project a success. We accompany the ongoing project with regular information about its progress and give new insights into the life of our native squirrels.
