About this app

MRT-7 is a cross between a metronome and a drum machine. It can keep time with a simple quarter note but also be highly customisable for a click unique to your situation. It can also play rhythms for backing with a Bossa Nova, Rock, Samba grooves and more. It has built-in sounds from classic drum machines as well as recorded percussion. Or use the synthesised click sounds for a digital-sounding click.

With MRT-7 A+B sequencing lets you layer two clicks and alternate between them — from 1 bar each up to custom sequences. Switch between steady time and subdivisions, or quarter notes and triplets. Progression built in: start 1+1, work up to 3+1, 2+2, 1+3.

MRT-7 is also a great educational tool as it is so visual — a fantastic learning aid for developing musicians.

Grid Editor
- Edit the grid rows and subdivisions — Up to 8 rows and 8 subdivisions per row.
- Create any time signature/meter on the grid.
- Choose how the beat (BPM) applies to the grid with the BEAT button.
- The beat is shown on the grid with highlighted subdivisions.

Play Modes
- Poly Grid Mode: Play the rows of the grid simultaneously - with different subdivisions this creates polyrhythms/phasing patterns.
- Dual Mode: Plays both grids together for more creative options.

Automation
- Automate many of the metronome features using rules.
- Automate tempo, timer bell sounds, grid permutations.

Presets
- Load and save presets.
- You can choose to load patterns only, without tempo/saved sounds if needed.

Setlists
- Load a preset folder as a setlist.
- Tap through tempos, grids and settings.
- Update your setlist on the fly. Edit the grid or other parameters then accept the update on the tempo strip.

Share and Backup
- Share individual presets with another device or musician.
- Share with a link or generate a QR code.
- Share preset folders (eg. a set list) with others as a .mrt7 file.
- Backup all presets as a .mrt7 file.
