BorealMaps is the outdoor app built for Quebec. Crown land, forest roads, hunting zones, fishing lakes and campgrounds on one fast map — that keeps working when the cell signal doesn't.

BorealMaps is an independent app: it is not affiliated with, and does not represent, the Gouvernement du Québec or any other government entity. The government information shown (public land, hunting zones, multi-use roads, topographic maps) comes from the Québec government's official open data, published on Données Québec: https://www.donneesquebec.ca (CC BY 4.0 licence). KNOW WHERE YOU STAND
• Quebec crown land: 41,000 parcels, distinguishing public land, ZEC, wildlife reserve, outfitter and park. Tap anywhere to see which territory you're standing on.
• Hunting zones: all 29 official zones, clearly bounded.
• Forest roads: over 900,000 segments of Quebec's network, with road class and surface type.
• Fishing: 14,000 water bodies with recorded species. Add your own — they stay with you.
• Campgrounds: 1,163 sites.
• Search: 147,000 official place names — lakes, rivers, municipalities — accents optional.

REAL TERRAIN
• 3D relief and hillshade for all of Quebec.
• Plan, Satellite or Relief basemaps, depending on what you're looking for.
• Contour lines generated on the fly.

ACTUALLY OFFLINE
Download the region you're heading to before you leave. Once you're out there with no bars, the map, the layers and your data are all still there. No data plan required, no missing tiles at the worst moment.

YOUR OUTINGS
• Background track recording: phone in your pocket, screen off, the track stays complete. Distance, duration, speed.
• Waypoints: long-press to mark a camp, a spot, a trailhead.
• GPX import and export, no conversion needed.
• Share an outing: a map of your route plus a georeferenced PDF that other apps can read.

YOUR OWN MAPS
Import your georeferenced maps (PDF or GeoTIFF) — outfitter maps, cut plans, old topo sheets — and lay them over the map. No limit on how many.

• Measure tool: tap the map to measure a distance
• Sign-in is easier to find, right in the main panel
• Choose which map layers are on by default (Settings)
• New "Direction up" mode: the map rotates to follow your movement (Settings)
