Cable network television was the order of the day for nearly half a century as new episodes of shows were released weekly, attracting viewers by the millions. From growing up watching "Mr Bean" and "Tom and Jerry" to finishing, with a pang of apprehension and regret, "Friends", "The Big Bang Theory", and “Breaking Bad”, these shows stole the spotlight and remain highly cherished till date.
With no Avengers’ movie premieres to rush to for almost two years in the wake of the pandemic, Netflix parties led the way for people to binge to no end. Live channels, old sitcoms, miniseries, short films and movie franchises; these platforms had something to cater to all audiences. The omnipresent internet issues did not affect the OTT platforms as much as they did the online classes, providing for the perfect setting for students to finish entire shows in a week’s worth of classes. While some were content with navigating grey hospitals for eighteen years, others chose to be entertained by contract killers in the theatre, a succession of family politics or at CalTech with one of “god’s special little people”, all in the space of a single day. Even now, as we slowly revert to the way things used to be, our busy schedules always seem to make time for an episode or two of “How I Met your Mother” and grace our day with Barney’s revolutionary guidance.
