About this app

BoltClock tells you when lightning is near, and when it's safe to go back outside.

When lightning strikes inside your zone, a countdown starts. Every new strike restarts it. When the clock runs out, you get the all-clear. No more guessing.

Lightning data comes from NOAA's GOES weather satellites, which watch for lightning across the US day and night. Alerts usually reach you within a minute of a strike.

FREE
• Lightning-nearby alerts for one place (10-mile zone)
• Live lightning map on Google Maps: search any US place and tap a strike to see how far away it was
• National Weather Service warnings for your place
• Lightning safety guide
• High-contrast outdoor mode for bright sun

PRO
• All-clear countdown that restarts with every new strike, and an all-clear alert when it's safe
• Up to 10 places, each with its own zone (6 to 25 miles) and countdown (15, 30 or 45 minutes)
• Storm approaching: distance and arrival time before lightning reaches you
• Countdown in your notifications, plus home-screen widgets
• Morning storm outlook and heat-index alerts
• Trip mode: alerts follow you on the road
• Family sharing for up to 5 people
• Live share links and a status box for your website, so parents, players or crew see the timer without the app
• Lightning history and shareable storm reports
• Quiet hours (tornado warnings always come through)

TEAM
For clubs, leagues, pools, camps and crews: up to 25 places, co-admins, messages to everyone following a place, and a lightning delay log for every place.

Made for pool managers, golf courses, coaches, parents, contractors and anyone who spends time outside. In English and Spanish. No ads.

Coverage: the lower 48 states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Alaska is not covered.

SAFETY: BoltClock is an aid, not a guarantee. Satellites can miss strikes or place them a few miles off. If you hear thunder, go indoors, whatever the app shows.

SUBSCRIPTIONS: Pro is $3.99/month or $24.99/year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Team is $9.99/month or $79.99/year. Payment is charged to your Google Play account. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Manage or cancel them in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions.
