About this game

Play letter-box puzzles and find your next word with BoxHint. Build word chains around a square, or enter 12 letters to get hints without revealing the whole answer.

Play and solve
Tap letters from alternating sides to form words of at least three letters. Start each new word with the last letter of the previous word, and use all 12 letters to finish. Try three solvable practice boards or play a board you enter yourself. Delete letters, undo a word and resume your saved game.

Hints at your pace
Need a nudge? The letter box solver lets you reveal a word's length, its first letter or the complete word. Uncover the rest of the chain only when you choose. In Play mode, an optional completed rewarded ad reveals one valid next word for you to submit.

Import your board
Choose a screenshot, crop around the letter square and check the recognized letters. Complete one rewarded ad to unlock that screenshot import. You can also enter three letters per side manually.

Find short word chains
Choose Standard or Expanded vocabulary. The solver searches for short chains that cover every letter, including two-word solutions when it finds them. Puzzle publishers use different dictionaries, so some suggested words may not be accepted in another game.

Keep your progress
Save solved boards and hint progress in local history. Your Play-mode word chain and partially entered word are saved on your device, ready for your next session. Choose a light or dark appearance.

Offline essentials
Manual entry, solving, normal gameplay and local history work offline. Ads need an internet connection. No sign-in, purchase or subscription is required.

On-device puzzles
Screenshot recognition and solving run on your phone. BoxHint does not upload your screenshots, puzzle letters or solutions. Google AdMob serves rewarded ads and may process device and network information as described in the privacy policy.
