**Understand what your daily commute really costs you — in time, money, and how
you feel.**
Commute IQ quietly logs the trips between the two places you choose as Home and
Work, works out how long they took and what they cost, and asks a quick one-tap
question about how each one felt. Over time it shows you the patterns, so you can
make informed decisions about your route, your transport, or working from home.
Everything happens on your phone. Commute IQ has no accounts and no servers, and
works fully offline by default — your commute, cost and mood data never leaves your
device. (You can optionally turn on online address search for exact addresses; only
then is the text you type sent to Google.)
**What it does**
• **Automatic commute detection** — Using geofencing and activity recognition,
Commute IQ notices when you leave and arrive at your Home and Work places. There
is no continuous GPS tracking and no location trail.
• **Transport mode** — It estimates whether you drove, took transit, cycled, or
walked, and you can correct it per trip.
• **Cost tracking** — Petrol, diesel, or electric: enter your fuel price and
mileage, your EV's electricity price and consumption, a simple cost-per-km, or a
transit fare, and each trip's cost is calculated for you. Override any trip for
tolls, rideshares, or day tickets.
• **Quick mood check-ins** — After a commute, tap one of five faces to note how it
felt. Add an optional note if you like, or skip it entirely.
• **Dashboard** — See your total commute time, total cost, and average mood for
the week or month, with a simple trend chart and plain-language observations about
patterns in your own log.
• **What-if simulator** — Curious how a different work location would compare?
Enter an address and get an on-device estimate of the time and cost difference.
• **Export** — Generate a CSV or PDF report of your commute time and cost trends —
handy for a conversation about remote work or relocation. Reports are created on
your device and shared only where you choose.
**Private by design**
• All places, trips, moods, and notes are stored only on your device.
• Works fully offline by default; no advertising, no analytics, no tracking.
• The only thing that can ever leave your device is an address you type while
optional online search is switched on — you're always in control.
• Delete everything with one tap in Settings, any time.
**Permissions, only when needed**
Commute IQ asks for each permission at the moment the related feature is set up,
with a clear explanation first:
• Location (including "Allow all the time") powers automatic commute detection via
geofencing.
• Physical activity helps identify your transport mode.
• Notifications deliver the single post-commute mood prompt.
Each is optional — decline any of them and the app still works, with that feature
turned off.
**A note on insights:** the patterns Commute IQ highlights are observations from
your own entries, to help you reflect. They are not medical or professional
advice.
Give it a few days of commuting and your dashboard will start to tell the story of
your daily journey — on your terms, on your device.
