Is there calima today? Calima en Canarias tells you at a glance, island by island.
The app turns air quality data into a traffic light anyone can read, no numbers needed: Clear, Light, Moderate or Heavy. And if you do want the hard figure, it is right there: mineral dust in µg/m³, PM10 and PM2.5.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• See the current dust level on your island, with the Calima Index from 0 to 10.
• Compare all 8 islands at a glance: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa.
• Check the next 72 hours, with an hourly chart and a plain-language summary: whether it is going to rise, when, and how far.
• Look back over the last 30 days and the calima episodes detected, with how long each one lasted and how high it got.
• Read health advice matched to the current level, written with people who have asthma or COPD in mind too.
• See the islands on the map and jump from one to another.
• Get a notification when the level on your islands actually changes: when it rises and when the episode ends. No noise, only when it matters, and you pick which islands.
BUILT FOR EVERYDAY LIFE
For anyone who goes running, hangs the washing out, cleans the terrace, takes the kids out, or simply wants to know whether to open the windows. No sign-up, no account, and no permissions it does not need.
WORKS OFFLINE
Readings are stored on your phone: if you lose signal, the app still shows the last one and tells you when it is from. Never a blank screen.
WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM
Mineral dust concentration and forecasts come from Open-Meteo, which uses the CAMS model from the European Copernicus programme.
The app is free and paid for by ads. If you would rather use it without them, you can remove them for good with a single payment. No subscriptions.
