SMART DEFINITIONS
Tap any word for a definition. This is more than just an automated lookup. Satori Reader shows the actual sense of each word as it's being used in the sentence. For example, the particle の has many uses: it can indicate possession; it can turn the preceding verb or phrase into a noun; it can stand in for another word; and more. We show you exactly what is happening in every instance of every word.

I love this app, and have been using it for years. The stories are fun and engaging, and the ability to click on words to see their translations, or play the audio of either specific sentences or the entire chapter, are super useful. It also lets you easily create flashcards with spaced repetition reviewing, and some stories have both simple and advanced versions. It gives context and explanation for grammar and word usage in translations. Thank you to all who worked on it!

I've only been a subscriber for one day, but this is probably the best app for learning Japanese there is. I've been looking for an app where a story is read to you slowly, and struggled finding one, but stumbled upon this, which comes with so much more than just the story. Definitions, explanations, great voice acting. This tool will likely prove invaluable. Recommendation: get through genki 1 and 2, then subscribe to satori reader. Edit: sub for 6 months now. Perfect app for reading/listening

Excellent app that lets you read stories (and a bit of news and more) in Japanese. Any word that you don't know can be tapped/clicked on, and its definition will come up. And the definitions are often tailored to the context and sometimes there are other notes to explain longer phrases as well (when it may still be difficult to understand a phrase even if you technically know all of the words). Each word can, with a tap/click be saved to a flash card for spaced repetition. Awesome app!
