Kuromasu is a challenging logic puzzle. Find where the black fields are, so that each field with a number sees exactly that number of white fields in horizontal and vertical direction. Each puzzle has exactly one solution, which can be found through logic reasoning. No guessing is needed!

While solving these logic puzzles can be tough, you can always check if your solution is correct so far and ask for a hint if you get stuck.

Kuromasu can be classified as a binary determination puzzle, like Hitori or Nurikabe, or as object placement puzzle like Battleships or Star Battle (Two not Touch). The puzzle is invented by the Japanese puzzle publishing company Nikoli and it first appeared in 1991. The word kuromasu is Japanese and translates to something like "where are the black fields".

I've been playing this for a year now. One request. Please let us pick a different background color. It can be very hard to tell apart the gray from the black. I've been looking for a great new Japanese style logic puzzle for a long time. It is pleasantly tough. I got used to the easy level quickly and the medium are not boring, they are fun. Looking forward to inching my way through the higher levels once I've developed a bit more technique. Ads are only after each game! Thank you!!

Great puzzle game. Not really sure what to compare it to. I guess nonograms would be the closest thing, but this doesn't make a picture. It's the type of game you can pick up for just a few minutes to clear your mind or play longer to relax. Skippable ads after every level or a reasonably small fee to remove ads altogether. More developers should follow this model.

I love the apps from this devolper. I have them all. The user experience is perfectly thought out and set up. The hints don't just give you a random answer. They also explain why it is wrong. It makes learning the game easy. You can pay to remove the ads from within the app. The app comes with a lot of puzzles and you can also buy more packs when you finish them all. Check out all of their apps. The Star Battle app is probably the best one out there.
