BE THAT MAN PROGRAM
"BE THAT MAN" is a biblically grounded discipleship journey designed to develop men of character, conviction, and purpose. Across eight workout sessions rooted in Scripture and guided by Dr. Edwin Louis Cole, men are progressively challenged to embrace true manhood—equipped to lead families, serve communities, and reform nations.
Workout Session Summaries
Workout 01 — Real Man
Real manhood is defined not by appearance or actions, but by character—"life is composed of our choices, constructed by our words and revealed by our character." Using Abraham's 318 trained servants and David's mighty men as models, men are challenged to commit to a long-term journey of becoming engaged, faithful warriors who lead their families, serve others, and reform their communities.
Workout 02 — Fathering
Biblical fatherhood requires men to serve their families as Christ serves the Church. "We teach what we know, but we reproduce what we are." With over 90% of incarcerated men coming from fatherless homes, the session challenges men to provide intimacy, discipline, love, and worth by initiating action, teaching righteousness, communicating effectively, and being actively involved — not just physically present — in their children's lives.
Workout 03 — Courage & Wholeheartedness
"You must be willing to change if you are to mature." Using Joshua 1:5-9 and the Prodigal Son, the session teaches that restoration requires moral courage doing what is right despite disapproval, persecution, or exclusion. Men are challenged to identify where they've compromised with sin and find the courage to face reality, admit need, make changes, and hold firm to biblical convictions.
Workout 04 — Faithfulness
"God commits to character, not talent." Using the Parable of the Talents, the session establishes faithfulness as the cornerstone of godly character. True faithfulness requires constancy (reliable obedience), loyalty (preserving confidences), and submission (yielding to authority with humility). Men are challenged to prove faithfulness in small things as the pathway to receiving greater trust and prosperity.
Workout 05 — Responsibility
"Maturity does not come with age but with the acceptance of responsibility." Adam's blame-shifting and Saul's pride are contrasted with Christ's ultimate example of accepting responsibility for all mankind. Greatness comes through serving, not being served. Men are challenged to confront failures, stop blame-shifting, and assume responsibility for what has been entrusted to them.
Workout 06 — Communication
"All good communication must begin with communication with God." The three methods of communication — word, gesture, and spirit — must align for healthy relationships. Communication breakdowns lead to death in relationships, whether spiritual, marital, or professional. Men are challenged to be trustworthy in keeping their word, quick to listen, slow to speak, and to prioritize prayer as the foundation of intimacy.
Workout 07 — Money
"Money is amoral—its morality is given by the character of its possessor." God desires prosperity for His children, but wealth must be sought through Him. True prosperity follows righteousness, built step by step — never through greed or get-rich schemes. Men are challenged to tithe faithfully, break free from debt, live within their means, and steward wealth for God's Kingdom, not personal consumption alone.
Workout 08 — Sexual Integrity
"Sex is the sign of the blood covenant of marriage — made for loving and giving, not lusting and getting." Sexual immorality is not merely physical but deeply spiritual, creating soul ties and generational curses—as seen in David, Samson, and Solomon. Men are challenged to flee temptation as Joseph did, embrace cell group accountability, confess sexual sin, and trust God's promise that purity can be restored through repentance.
