BrightKidz Hub is a free library of things to find out, for children aged 7 to 12.
147 illustrated articles, 3 illustrated books and 20 games, across science, technology, nature and environment, maths and logic, arts, and history and geography.
EVERYTHING WORKS WITHOUT A CONNECTION
The whole library is inside the app. Nothing is downloaded as you read, so it works on a plane, on a bus, or on a tablet that has never had a SIM.
NO ADS. NO SIGN-IN. NOTHING COLLECTED.
There is no account to make and no advertising of any kind. The app has no internet permission, so nothing a child reads or plays can leave their device. There is nothing to buy inside it.
NO SCORES, NO STREAKS, NO TIMERS
The games teach one idea each and then stop. Nothing counts how long a child spent or tells them they are behind. Five of the longer games remember where you got to, on that device, so a child can stop in the middle and come back.
WRITTEN TO BE ACCURATE
Every page passes automated checks before it can be published, and a claim we cannot verify is cut rather than softened. Where an activity involves heat, electricity, sharp tools or anything else that needs an adult, the page says so plainly.
WHAT IS INSIDE
Articles that answer a real question: why a cave is dissolved and not dug, why a coastline has no length, why paint and light disagree about mixing.
Books that build: The Chemical History of a Candle, adapted from Faraday's 1861 Christmas lectures; How to Know Where You Are, on longitude and how anybody ever knew; The Dice Cannot Remember, on chance.
Games you can play in about four minutes, each attached to an article.
Five longer games with several worlds each.
