About this app

Speedometer is a clean, easy-to-read dashboard that shows your GPS speed, compass heading, and altitude at a glance. It’s designed for driving, cycling, and outdoor trips where you just want the essentials in large, legible text.

Key features

True GPS speed: Uses the device’s GPS sensor (not Wi-Fi/IP) for accurate speed readings.

Bold speed display: Giant digits that auto-size to fit your screen.

Compass: Fixed red needle with a rotating dial so north always stays intuitive.

Altitude: Clear elevation readout, with gentle smoothing to reduce jumpiness.

Metric/Imperial units: km/h & m, or mph & ft.

Always-on display option: Keeps the screen awake while the app is open.*

Battery-friendly design: Efficient updates and smoothing for stability.

Modern look: Subtle, “instrument panel” styling that’s easy on the eyes.

*Screen will stay on only while you’re using the app.

How it works

Speed comes directly from GPS, and heading is taken from the sensors (or your course of travel when you’re moving fast enough). Altitude uses the location provider’s elevation and is gently filtered for readability.

Permissions

Location: Needed to measure speed, heading, and altitude via GPS.

Privacy

Notes

Do not use this app as your sole source of navigation. Always follow local laws and drive safely.

GPS accuracy can vary based on environment, device, and signal conditions.
