I bought the ChessUp board to give my 4 year old a visual tool to learn chess. A few months later, she knows pins, forks, basic opening strategy, basic checkmates, and more. The board itself has incredibly intuitive features which is very satisfying to use. I use the board to play online games over the board myself too. The app has additional training and analysis tools which are just even more icing on the cake. Highly recommend!

Love the board, but app connectivity with it seems terrible. Anytime I select an AI opponent with me as black, white just won't move. I can get it to work if I select an opening and make white's move for it, but even then I have to back out and then resume the match for it to actually play. Also kind of annoying that the AI doesn't seem to try to play any real openings. Or when I choose to follow an opening it just does one move and then does nonsense. Works good online.

I want to like this app but it is being severely soured for me by the difficulty I'm having adding friends. I can't find any answers anywhere. I just want to add my husband but when I search for people not a single name pops up and when he searches for me, I don't pop up though I'm actively connected to our board with my app open. **Edit for those who might have the same problem** turns out signing up through the Gmail button is a bad idea, it was like my account was never finished setting up
