CrystalEngine finds documents, photos and recordings on your phone by their content and opens them right where you found them. Indexing and search run on the device, so file contents stay on your phone.

Why CrystalEngine

• Content search: even when file names are random, it finds files by document text, text in photos (OCR) and words spoken in recordings, and highlights the sentence that matched.
• Processed on the device: the index is stored encrypted on the device and file contents are not sent to any server. Once a model is downloaded, search works in airplane mode.
• Find it, open it: HWP and HWPX (Korean word processor), PDF, Word and Excel documents, plus music and video, open inside the app without another app.

Key features

1. Search tuned for Korean
• Initial-consonant and partial search: 'ㄱㅌㅅ' finds '검토서.hwp' (review report), and '견적' (quote) finds '재견적서' (revised quote).
• Search operators: combine file type (filetype:), date (after:) and size (size:) to narrow down to the files you want.
• Similar image and region search: find photos that look like one you take with the camera or pick from the gallery. A first pass over 20,000 indexed photos took 1.18 milliseconds.

2. All-in-one document viewer
• Formats: HWP, HWPX, PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, TXT, MD, CSV, RTF
• Shadows, gradients, rotation and patterns common in public-office and business documents are drawn as the original defines them.
• This product was developed with reference to Hancom's published HWP document file (.hwp) documentation.

3. Media players and file management
• Music player: 10-band parametric equalizer (PEQ-10), crossfade, gapless playback and ReplayGain loudness normalization.
• Video player: SRT and SMI subtitles, playback speed, picture-in-picture, and TV playback over Chromecast and DLNA.
• File management: duplicates are shortlisted by size and confirmed by SHA-256 hash, and documents inside archives such as ZIP and 7Z open without extracting. Deleted files can be restored from the trash.

Privacy and data handling

• No account or sign-in: no registration and no personal details are required.
• Network switch: online features such as map tiles and model downloads sit behind one network switch. Turn it off in Settings and the app does not connect to the internet, while search, indexing and document viewing keep working. Purchase checks handled by Google Play are separate from this switch.
• Progress notifications: with notifications allowed, scanning, automatic indexing, recording transcription and photo text recognition show their progress in a notification, and you can stop them right there.
• Voice search: the on-device recognizer is used first; without it, the system recognizer takes over and the audio then leaves the device. Details are in the Data safety section.
