Bransys ELD BLE Bridge App is a specialized communication gateway designed exclusively for use with proprietary Bransys FMCSA-certified Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). This app enables continuous Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity between the ELD hardware and our secure server infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted data flow for compliance, fleet monitoring, and operational accuracy.

Core Functionality

When paired via BLE, the ELD transmits all log records, duty-status events, diagnostic messages, and operational data to the mobile app. The app then securely relays this information to our MQTT servers using the mobile device’s internet connection. This architecture removes the need for cellular modules inside the ELD hardware while maintaining full FMCSA and DOT compliance.

Real-Time GPS Relay

Because modern mobile devices offer superior GPS antennas compared to embedded ELD modules, the app also functions as the ELD’s GPS provider. The ELD requests location updates every 4 seconds, and the app delivers accurate coordinates in real time.
This continuous GPS stream enables:
• Reliable trip reconstruction
• Movement-based status updates
• Mandated 30-minute interval location reporting during vehicle movement
• Accurate DOT/FMSCA compliance logs

Location access must remain active in the background to prevent data loss and ensure regulatory continuity.

Uninterrupted Operation

Federal regulations require that ELD communication and GPS reporting remain active at all times. To meet these standards, the app must:
• Run in the background
• Maintain BLE connection during driving
• Restart automatically after device reboot
• Prevent manual pausing or interruption of data transfer

Any delay or restart could result in log gaps, inaccurate driving history, and non-compliance with FMCSA/DOT data continuity rules.
