About this game
Budbrain's Chess is a beautifully designed chess game with 100 levels—from Elo 150 for beginners to Elo 1900 for club players. The warm parchment theme evokes an old chess notebook and makes every game a peaceful experience.
★ 100 Levels in 10 Stages
The AI gets stronger with each stage. Each of the 10 stages features a unique board theme: Pine, Olive, Walnut, Marble, Ink, Emerald, Plum, Graphite, Glass, and Obsidian.
★ Fair Handicap System
In the early levels, your opponent plays without a queen, without a knight, or with only a king and pawns. This gives beginners a real chance to learn chess step by step.
★ Dice Roll at the Start of the Game
Animated dice determine who plays White—just like on a club board.
★ Help for all skill levels
Tap a piece to see all legal moves. The Hint button suggests a good move. Your own pieces under threat flash red. Board rotation, undo, and auto-save are included, of course.
★ 3-star rating
Each game won is rated with 1, 2, or 3 stars—depending on how efficiently you moved. Using the Hint feature results in a maximum of 1 star: fair play is what counts.
★ Achievements gallery
Each game won is saved as an image—with time, date, and star rating. Long press to delete.
★ Attract mode
After 30 seconds of inactivity, the app plays an AI vs. AI demo, just like in the old arcades.
★ 22 languages
Manual selection or automatic detection of your system language. Full TalkBack support with localized announcements for each piece and move.
