Measure the area of any field, farm, plot or garden by walking its boundary with GPS, or by typing the corner coordinates from your land record. Plotline is a GPS land area calculator that gives the answer in acres, hectares, square feet and local units such as bigha, guntha, katha, kanal and marla. No ads. No subscription.

WHY PEOPLE SWITCH TO PLOTLINE
• Walk the boundary: press Start walking, go around the field and press Finish. Plotline skips vague readings and GPS jumps, keeps recording with the screen off and works offline, with no internet connection.
• Accurate maths: area and perimeter are measured on the WGS84 ellipsoid with the geodesic method used by surveying software. No size limit, from a garden to a whole farm.
• Honest local units: a bigha in West Bengal is not a bigha in Rajasthan, so every local unit shows its region. If your records use another size, add your own unit.
• Acres included, with hectares, square metres, square feet, square yards (gaj) and more than 30 local units.

TWO WAYS TO MEASURE
1. GPS walk: walk around the field with your phone ("Trace my path"), or use "Stake corners" for straight-sided plots: stand on each corner for a few seconds and Plotline averages the GPS readings.
2. Enter coordinates: decimal degrees (18.5204, 73.8567) or degrees, minutes and seconds (18°31'13"N 73°51'24"E). Paste a whole list at once.
Then check and adjust the shape on the plot sheet, a scaled grid with every side length.
