Scrollometer: Doomscroll Meter

Buffer Labs Studio

About this app

How far did your thumb scroll today? 🦒📏

Scrollometer puts a rainbow meter on the edge of your screen while you watch Reels, Shorts and other short videos, and turns your doomscroll into real distance. Then it compares it to giraffes, blue whales, the Eiffel Tower, Mount Everest… all the way to the North Pole.

It's a screen time tracker that's actually fun to look at. No guilt trips, no lectures. Just the slightly horrifying truth, served with confetti.

📏 A LIVE METER ON YOUR REELS
• A thin rainbow ruler on the left edge fills up as you swipe
• Tap the badge for today's distance, time wasted, swipes and your thumb speed
• Pass a landmark and get a confetti celebration: "Today you scrolled a Blue Whale!"
• Drag it anywhere, or hide it with one tap

🗺️ THE TROPHY ROAD: 124 LANDMARKS
From a mouse 🐭 and a banana 🍌 to a giraffe 🦒, the Taj Mahal 🕌, the Eiffel Tower 🗼, Mount Everest 🏔️, a marathon 🏅, the edge of space 🚀… and finally North Pole → Equator 🌐: 10,000 km, the distance the metre was originally defined from.

🏆 151 SILLY ACHIEVEMENTS + SECRET EASTER EGGS
Neck & Neck. Marathumb. Night Owl. Certified Potato. "It's Been 5 Minutes". Swipe Not Found. Some are hidden, so poke around (and maybe poke Thumbo, our googly-eyed thumb mascot).

⏱️ TIME WASTED… SUCCESSFULLY
Your screen time, translated into instant noodles cooked, Titanic screenings, power naps and kilometres you could have jogged. Plus your attention span per reel (a goldfish is judging you).

📊 HIGH SCORES & STATS
• Today vs all-time distance with a size-comparison skyline
• Best day, longest binge, most swipes, top thumb speed, streaks
• Last 7 days chart and "thumb math" facts

🔔 PAUSE BUTTON & WIDGET
• One big switch to pause or resume the meter
• A permanent notification with today's distance and a pause button
• A home-screen widget that reminds you how many giraffes you've scrolled

🔒 100% PRIVATE
• Everything stays on your phone. The app has no internet permission at all
• No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking
• It never reads your messages, captions or what you watch. It only measures how far content scrolls

♿ WHY ACCESSIBILITY PERMISSION?
Scrollometer uses Android's Accessibility Service API to detect scrolling in supported short-video apps and to draw the meter over them. That's the only thing it's used for, it's explained in the app before you turn it on, and you can turn it off any time in Settings → Accessibility.

Works with popular short-video apps including Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat Spotlight, Moj, Josh and Likee. Scrollometer is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Measure your doomscroll. Laugh at it. Maybe touch some grass. 🌱
