About this game

Tap First is a reaction duel for two people and one device.

Sit face to face with the screen between you. Each of you owns half of it. The screen goes dark and stays dark for somewhere between one and a half and four seconds, long enough that nobody can guess when it will end. Then it floods with colour, and the first tap wins the round.

Tap too early and you lose it. A false start hands the point straight to your opponent, so nerve counts as much as speed. First to three rounds takes the match.

Timing you can trust
Each reaction is measured from the moment the signal fires to the moment your finger touched the screen, using the touch's own timestamp rather than whenever the app got round to handling it. When two taps land milliseconds apart, the one that really came first wins.

Made for the way you hold it
• On a phone, the two halves stack and the far half turns to face your opponent.
• On a tablet, the halves sit side by side.
• On a foldable, the split follows the hinge, and the hinge itself belongs to nobody. Lay it flat, stand it up in tabletop, or hold it like a book.

Every match remembered
Your head-to-head record, the fastest reaction so far, and your last fifty matches, each with its score and its standout moment: a shutout, a lightning-fast round, or a match decided by nerves.

Made to feel physical
Haptic feedback on every tap and sound cues synthesised on the device. The game respects your animation settings.

Nothing in the way
No ads. No in-app purchases. No accounts. No internet connection needed, and nothing you do in the game ever leaves your device.
Two players, one screen. Wait for the flash, then be the first to tap.
