About this game

Cabbage Catcher is a single-finger cartoon arcade game built around one very specific
premise: a straw scarecrow is asleep on duty, and the cabbages are starting to fall
out of the sky. You have one woven wicker basket, sixty seconds, and an entire
vegetable patch worth of round green cabbages tumbling from above. Slide the basket
left and right with your thumb to catch them before they hit the soil.
What makes Cabbage Catcher its own thing rather than another reskin of a generic
falling-object game is the layered economy around the basic catch loop. Hares from
the neighboring meadow keep hopping into the play field as living distractions. They
fall the same way the cabbages do, but they cost you a life if you scoop one up by
mistake, so the basket isn't just a "catch everything" tool, it's a filter you have
to aim. Every tenth cabbage caught in a single round triggers a five-second time
bonus, which turns the round into a rolling streak puzzle: keep the combo alive,
keep the timer alive. Break the streak and the round shortens itself again.
Between rounds you visit the Barnyard Bazaar, an in-game upgrade shop paid for by the
cabbages you actually managed to catch. There are two upgrade tracks. The Wider
Basket track stretches the wicker rim of your basket so each horizontal sweep covers
more ground. The Cabbage Magnet track adds a soft attraction field around the
basket that pulls only cabbages, never hares, so the upgrades stack into different
play styles instead of just making the game easier in one direction.
The whole app is built in Flutter with a hand-painted cartoon look. Two original
illustrated backgrounds, one daytime meadow and one dusk barn, were generated for the
project and reused across all screens for a unified scarecrow-farm feel. Cabbages,
hares and the basket are individual transparent sprites drawn directly onto a custom
canvas, so the game runs as one continuous animation loop instead of relying on
stacked widgets. Layout, sprite size, basket width, button height and font sizes all
scale from the device's shortest side, so the same code adapts cleanly from a small
phone to a large tablet without redesigning any screen.
